Review of Bumblebee (2018) by Maria D — 24 Dec 2018
"The darkest nights, produce the brightest stars.".
I'd like to think of the darkest night's in the Transformers franchise being Transformers: The Last Knight - which it being so bad, that we got the chance to have this bright star of a movie - Bumblebee.
I actually am a huge fan of the first Transformers movie that Michael Bay did, I really liked Shia LaBeouf in it, but after the first one, all the rest of the movies were just big cash cows, that looked great visually but you never left the movie feeling any kind of impact other than "that looked cool".
This movie directed by Travis Knight brought the impactful story that the Transformers franchise needed. This is a really cute movie, Hailee Steinfeld did a really great job. I really felt for her character during this movie and that made her connection with Bumblebee more impactful. There are some cheesy joke moments, typical 80's characters, and of course 80's music.
But it really is just a sweet friendship movie, that definitely sets up a sequel and under new guidance by Knight, I think will be the movies that we should have gotten. With all the big tentpole movies out this Christmas, I hope people give this one a chance and aren't burned by the previous one's. it actually is good!
