Yes, you can tell it's 1968, but that doesn't affect the movie one bit. The right pace, right moves and right touches throughout, it's easy to invest yourself in this flick! And the car chase is STILL an absolute adrenaline surge -- I can't get enough of hearing those engines rev! The movie where McQueen became the "King Of Cool".
