Review of Bullets Over Broadway (1994) by Christina M — 09 Nov 2007
Every mobster stereotype was perfectly overdone and Jennifer Till's character was hysterical. In fact, I loved all the actors, except maybe John Cusack. Nobody can play "Woody Allen" like Woody Allen.
The movie sort of reminded me of "Day For Night" since we got a backstage view of putting on a Broadway play. I loved the British actor with the eating addiction, and how he snuck in a bite of a chicken leg before hooking up with Jennifer Tilly's character.
Lots of good lines, especially when Flenders, the psuedo-intellectual, brags: â??I donâ??t write hits. I write plays to be unproduced.â?? Clearly Dianne West did a great job since I didn't even realize that she was Holly from "Hannah and Her Sisters.
" I guess that's what's acting's all about. OH! Cheech's death scene and his last words about how to change the play made me laugh out loud. Good fun for all.
