(2013) Bullet to The Head.
ACTION/ COMEDY.
I come into this film with no expectations, directed by a director I highly respect by the name of Walter Hill who did movies as "Hard Times" and "48 hours" and the amazingly underrated "Streets Of Fire". Based on the graphic novel "Du plomb dans la tête" by Alexis Nolent except one can't tell by watching it. Stars Sylvester Stallone as James Bonomo who is kind of like an assassin for hire, except that he's been double crossed. It's one of those things when after the assassin does his job, that the boss would hire another person to get rid of the his hired hit man for reason of caution. So after a failed hit to an assassination hit to James he then goes on a crusade for retribution since he wasn't even paid yet by his contacts/ employers. The movie also stars Sung Kang (Fast Five) as the American born North Korean Homicide detective forced to go rogue.
Besides this summary of this plot has already been done before on such movies as "The Killer", "The Matador" and the Jason Bourne movies, this is a unique and perhaps a much poorer version of better films since in this movie actor Sly Stallone is portrayed as smarter than he really is upon given lots of dialogue but still sounds quite unconvincing. And the action set pieces are nothing special either which is similar to many other movies with fights except in this one Stallone grunts a lot- you know those 'uhhh...' sounds he usually makes whenever he's in those Rocky movies saying that the action scenes are just terrible and so few of it too- in the most boring way possible. I mean, how is it determined that Sly can personally carry this film on his own when he already has a reputation for viewers who prefer to hear less from him as opposed to more.
2 out of 4 stars.
