Review of Bugsy Malone (1976) by Pupkie P — 11 Jan 2008
The sort of film you'd sadly NEVER get away with now, although it was certainly a novel and original idea at the time. Director Alan Parker did a gangster film, and made it with an ALL child cast, and he brings out the best in them, including Scott Baio (later of Happy Days fame), as Bugsy, and a young Jodie Foster as singer Tallulah.
Say what you want to about this film, but the fact of the matter is, the kids are top notch, and the songs, (by Paul Williams), are toe-tapping and quite memorable, and any film with machine guns that fire custard cream can't be ALL bad!! :D 5/5.
