Review of Buffalo '66 (1998) by Chris W — 17 Jun 2008
This is a very nice yet simple story. Talk about finding love in unexpected places. Gallo's film is successful on many levels. First, he connects viewers to, seemingly, some of the most disconnected characters in the history of film.
After 20 minutes of this movie I felt annoyed, almost like I had been tricked into someting I didn't expect. Yet as the movie continues (and concludes) I found myself caring deeply for the characters, even quietly cheering for them in my head.
I felt like this was a true love story. Buffalo '66 is quirky in many ways and is strongly supported by the acting, especially that of Ricci's. She was fantastic in this movie and had the cast around her to make a star.
I really enjoyed Buffalo '66 and would like to find more films like it.
