Review of Buffalo '66 (1998) by Masorad ( — 11 Apr 2009
A serviceable tale of (pseudo) ex-con ultimately does right, despite his baser extincts, in nowheresville, Buffalo, NY (upstate nowhere). Gallo's heavyweights chew their dialogue (Huston, Rourke, Gazzara) as was wont in the late 90s, but there is something true and endearing about the tale, and the quasi-experimental diddling serves to enhance the overall banality of these lives.
Pseudo or not, this is a lonely film.
