Review of Bubba Ho-tep (2002) by Marcel D — 28 Sep 2009
In of the most bizarre concepts for a film, Elvis is not dead but is living out his days in a retirement home, he never died, an Elvis impersonator died in his place when he was taking a break. Now he hangs out with a black guy who thinks he's JFK.
Now add a soul-sucking mummy to the mix and suddenly there's intrigue.
What could've been a fantastic cult-classic is instead a case of close but no cigar. Its fun, especially Bruce Campbell as Elvis but it doesn't completely deliver.
That being said, this film isn't trying to be a masterpiece and if you just want something light with Bruce Campbell in it- you can't go wrong.
