Review of Bubba Ho-tep (2002) by Max D — 04 Jun 2010
Well this is an odd one to talk about to people who never heard of it, I mean the title itself raises a few questions. Basically it focuses on Elvis Presley (Bruce Campbell) in a retirement home, with a man who claims to be President Kennedy (Ossie Davis), who learn about a mummy who's going stealing the souls of others by sucking them out their assholes.
...Yeah, well I'll give it points for originality XD. Bruce Campbell does a great job as Elvis, there's a few touching moments where you feel sad though I think they talked a little much about his "growth" in the beginning.
There's a ton of funny scenes, and sometimes the movie pulls a few good scares if you're letting the dark atmosphere get to you. I felt the ending was a little lacking but still interesting. It's worth checking especially if you're getting sick of seeing horror movie remakes and reused ideas.
It's original and I'm sure it'll get a few good laughs out of you whether with its obvious humor, or it's more subtle humor.
