Review of Brute Force (1947) by Chris W — 09 Nov 2008
The big turning point in the career of one of film noir's finest craftsmen, Jules Dassin. Brute Force is one hell of a picture, a mean, tough prison drama that is brutal and packs a punch. It was Burt Lancaster's second film and some of his best work is to be found here, not to mention Hume Cronyn's despicable, opportunist Captain Munsey.
One of Dassin's best works pre-exile from Hollywood and in general.
