Review of Brüno (2009) by Jordan F — 04 Dec 2011
You gotta give credit to Sasha Baron Cohen, this guy knows how to pull off uncomfortable. You'll be squirming in your seat the entire film, it's just that awkward. Anyways, although Bruno starts off slow, once you get the past the first half hour the film settles in and you will finally start to encounter some laughs (and the Borat cliches won't be as bothersome).
Bruno is far departed from its predecessor, but the formula stays the same, so don't expect anything far removed from Borat; in fact, just think Borat, but gayer and more over the line for a quick preview of this flick.
But the fact remains that the shock value will essentially be gone here, so don't expect anything amazingly hilarious or clever - it simply does what you expect it to and what it sets out to do.
