Review of Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) by Lorne Allan F — 03 Mar 2008
A martial arts movie. With a werewolf. And a Native American ninja-type MoFo. And a conspiracy. And a religious cult. Set in C18th France, meaning cool costumes. Sounds like some guys were cutting-and-pasting together genre elements at random but actually this is a tightly-written, well-acted, moody, eerie, action-packed action-horror movie (with a sideways anti-religious polemic) that is more than the sum of its disparate-seeming parts.
A costume drama like no other!
