Brotherhood of the wolf used modern sound effects and slow motion. The bone crushing sound effects were absolutely brilliant. The slow motion allowed the audience to view the action up close. The action and detail in the movie keep you wanting more. How well this movie is made makes up for how long you have to watch it. Unique for a French film it includes a variety of other genres, such as romance, horror, martial arts, and new age (magic). It also has closure to the many different plots which is rare for a French film. I also think the movie worked well over all, even though some things were scattered about throughout the movie it was done in a clear pattern so the audience never loses what is happening. .

There are more than a couple historical events/references in the movie but the main one is based on a legend from the eighteenth century about a beast. The beast?s story takes over the political story the movie is trying to point out. This was one of the movie?s downfalls in the socio-historical genre it tries to accomplish. Since some Americans may not be up-to-date on French culture and history, it would have been nice to see more of why the Brotherhood of the Wolf was plotting against the King. Otherwise the movie was a hit in my opinion..
