Review of Brother Bear (2003) by Michael M — 21 Oct 2012
I don't like Phil Collins' entries into Disney music, which I would describe as being too obvious; and a lot of the comic relief came off as a bit too tacky and not on par with Disney's best.
But holy crap, everything else friggin' blew me away. It's on par with the catalog of films from the Disney Renaissance of the 90s, with some beautiful images, an interesting story, a lot of heart, and an interesting culture.
I liked the presentation of native culture seen in here. Is it completely accurate to that culture? Probably not, but it's still the type of story I can see as being a legend in that culture, and it's a helluva' lot more respectful that the overrated Pocahontas.
