Plot Summary.

This story involves a boy named Kenai trying to become a man, and in his journey he finds himself doing things incorrectly this leads him down the path of vengeance and he loses his brother in the process. He later gets turned into a bear by the great spirit so he can learn from living the life of a bear to improve his life. In the end he learns the meaning of his spirit totem and sacrifices his humanity to stay as a bear to take care of the bear cub that was left behind after he killed his mom. In living his totem as a bear and having love he then becomes a responsible adult and gets his palm at the ritual wall.

World Religion.

This movie is trying to explain to us some basic Native American tribe traditions; for example, in the beginning there showing us something called the rites of passage into adulthood. The example they show us is the gift of the totem witch in actual Native American tribes would be the spirit quest this is an attempt to communicate with the spirit world this is usually accomplished though contact with a spirit guide( that's usually an animal). There is also a mention of the Great Spirit in the movie, and this is there creator or the one that created this land. There was another ritual that was showed to us during the movie, and it was the Jump dance witch is found as Kenai Is walking in to get his totem from the shaman women. This movie is full of all this cool and intriguing rituals that the original ancestors of this land would practice during there life times.

This movie also tries to explain to us how the world is interconnected by the Great Spirit. They show us this when the lights touch the top of the mountain after the bear has been slayed by Kenai, and the bear re-joins the great spirit thru the lights. This is also showed when Kenai is getting turned into a bear by the great spirit this to me is emphasized when the shaman woman is looking at him and says the spirits usually don't do changes to people like this. Another example of how everything is connected is called the Holy wind, which is a spiritual force that inhabits every element of creation. This is also showed in the movie when the shaman women says to Kenai to not anger the spirit's by hunting down the bear because he would throw off the balance in nature by disobeying the spirits.
