Review of Brother Bear (2003) by Justdoing M — 25 Jan 2013
Brother bear is a great movie. I have to admit that it actually surprised me. I thought it was just going to be a goofy cartoon but it really had a lot of lessons to be learned. At one point it even brought me to tears. Throughout the entire movie the lessons became clearer. The movie definitely showed that life can be fun. But it also showed that there are rules that we all have to follow. It made very clear that being selfish and self-centered can have grave consequences. The movie also dealt with the issue of making decisions when you are angry. It showed that when you are angry you should wait and calm down before making a decision. This movie showed how when you are given a task to follow it may not be easy but we should always try to make the best of what we are told to do. The movie showed that sometimes we can get help from the person we least want help from. The one thing that stood out is the love that grew between the Kenai when he was change to a bear and the cub Koda. That made him realize what his totem really meant. The things that were taught through the brothers are all morals that we were all taught when we were young.
This movie definitely depicts many ways of the indigenous people. The biggest way that stands out is the spiritual way. The people in this movie believed as the indigenous did, that the spirits of the ancestors were very important. The spirits have the power to make changes in their world. The spirits could make things go from small into big. Another way that this movie related to the indigenous is by the way that they were close with nature. They also used what was provided to them by nature to survive. They would fish to eat as well as hunt. They were very much like the indigenous people.
