Review of Brooklyn (2015) by Robert B — 18 Feb 2016

This was a pretty solid movie, but ultimately a paint-by-numbers romance tale. Saoirse Ronan does a really great fish-out-of-water, but with some intense emotional scenes as well.

The production design was rock solid - really great stuff. Other than that though, everything in the film was pretty predictable. The story beats follow a pretty simple formula and the story moves along with a good pace.

Not super surprised by the Oscar nom, but there were definitely better films that were overlooked.
