One question kept springing to my mind both during and after this movie; how the hell did Brooklyn get nominated for Best Picture? I must've been missing something. I kept waiting for anything interesting to happen that might ramp things up a notch or two, but it just never came.
Despite the story being a bit of a snooze, not everything about Brooklyn was bad. Saoirse Ronan was really likeable as the main character, and Julie "Mrs. Weasley" Walters had a few funny moments in her mother hen role.
