Review of Bronson (2009) by Daniel A — 04 Feb 2012
Regardless of your feelings about the film's apparent glamorisation of extreme violence, there can be no denying that Tom Hardy is a revelation, and damn-near unrecognisable in the lead role, mustering up a blinding performance built on a mix of theatricality and pure testosterone.
He forms the backbone of the film, which tells the gritty tale of Britain's most notorious prisoner Charles Bronson. Parallels drawn to Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange are not far wrong, although this is more stylish but far less weighty in comparison.
A fine example of British arthouse cinema.
