Review of Bronson (2009) by Kevin B — 22 Jul 2012
Bronson has one thing that even its obvious inspiration, A Clockwork Orange, didn't have, Tom Hardy's simply sublime performance. Its a testament to the magic of cinema that a character of such anger and vicious energy could be portrayed as a man of charisma and sympathy.
I'm reminded of Sin City (2005) where one character describes another as having "the rotten luck of being born in the wrong century." And indeed, Charles Bronson is a puzzle piece that just doesn't fit into this world.
It doesn't make him wrong. It just makes him sad.
