Review of Broken Flowers (2005) by Betty S — 02 Feb 2009
A bit of great acting by Bill Murray, a small handful of memorable shots (but not nearly as many as one would expect from a movie so heavy on the traveling theme) and a few decent members of the supporting cast save this movie from being utterly unwatchable, but the vast majority of characters other than Johnston are wooden and almost completely unlikeable or too self consciously quirky to be even remotely believable.
In the end, this felt like a poor man's Wes Anderson flick. Watch The Life Aquatic instead.
