Review of Broken Ceiling (2018) by Maria M — 06 Aug 2018
Broken Ceiling by Adam Davis.
This is the wonderful, truthful story. I worked for an office for a few years and I know what it is about especially when your boss is a psychopath. Such a lot wage-earners hate their job. In fact, two-thirds of Americans are disengaged at work, or worse, according to a new Gallup study on the American workplace. In Canada, we also have such a problem. Hays Canada's recent mass survey revealed that 47 per cent of respondents were dissatisfied with their job. Young workers seem to be the most disgruntled. ADP's recent poll showed that a staggering 55 per cent of workers aged 18 to 34 want to leave their current jobs compared to 30 per cent of all workers.
I'm wondering how many employees wish to kill their boss or at least to give a lesson like the main character of this amazing story. All the actors are great. The team shows us an example of a psychodrama with a deep understanding of the each role playing, and dramatic self-presentation to investigate and gain insight into their lives. They show us the mirror of our modern life and how it is important to understand who you are and what you do.
The message is simple: The unhappy worker is like a hidden time bomb. If it explodes, not only the boss will suffer, but the whole business may go down.
