Review of Broken Blossoms or The Yellow Man and the Girl (1919) by Ben W — 03 Mar 2010
A perfectly fine film from griffith, lyrical, sad, and certainly on a smaller scale than birth of a nation or even intolerance. while it is not quite as racist as birth of nation, it is hard to get past the use of certain words.
but the radiant lillian gish is quite excellent, bringing a tragic quality to her role that made it all worthwhile.
