Review of Brokeback Mountain (2005) by Eduardo L — 10 Mar 2014
Finally getting around to this after 8-9 years of being afraid of it, now that I have grown, matured, and all-around changed as a person ever so much since then. Such a beautiful, ambitious, tender and deeply affecting film that transcends far beyond the surface label of "gay cowboy movie" the public has always slapped on it.
The homosexual love story may be the central anchor that makes this film work the way that it does, but in the grand scheme of things it presents so many aspects of human emotions that just about anyone can identify with in a profound way.
That's why it's so frustrating that so many people have been so put off by it from that standpoint. Society has come along way with this issue since then, but it still does come to show the lack of understanding some people even today have of this sort of thing.
