Review of Brokeback Mountain (2005) by Devin P — 01 Oct 2012
Though it's a gay film, it wasn't bad at all.
PLOT:Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) have to go up to Brokeback Mountain together to deliver a herd of sheep. One night, Ennis gets drunk and comes in the tent with Jack to sleep. Things.....happen. After the mountain, they go off to live their lives while trying to liuve their forbidden love. The plot is very unique, considering it's about a couple of gay cowboys. It almost sounds like a women's fantasy. The plot was executed pretty well, I just found it a little overlong. Disagreements?
ACTING:Most acting was EXCELLENT. You really sensed the passion between Jack and Ennis. I think the greater performances were Jake Gyllenhaal, ANne Hathaway, Michelle Williams. I don't think Ledger lived to his full potential in this movie. But when I see The Dark Night, I'll know.
SCORE:Beautifully done. Gustavo Santaolalla did a great job with this. The soundtrack also included a few good western tunes.
OTHER CONTENT:The twist at near the end is very tragic and will make you feel emotion. It's true too-that you can feel the emotions they feel when they feel 'em. Now for the jokes I made up for the movie. Why are their names Jack and Ennis? Because Jack jacked Ennis' penis. Haha Well, know I can say that I watched the gay cowboy movie.
OVERALL,a great gay romance with a unique but overlong plot, excellent acting, beautiful score, and tragedy and emotion that can be felt.
