Review of Brokeback Mountain (2005) by Echo Z — 02 Mar 2013
I'm gonna be honest: it's a little boring at times. Not much happens. It's more of a character-driven story than anything else. That said, there's some really good acting, although occasionally it seems too melodramatic for it's own good.
I thought Heath Ledger did the best job though in bringing his character to life, despite the strange way he spoke (mumbling.) I understand Ennis' struggle. He's introverted, doesn't say much, pretty tough exterior.
He's sort of a guy's guy and you can tell that his character was raised in the type of environment where "real men" don't do this or that. So when you see the character through that lens his visible fight to never show emotional weakness or vulnerability is believable, as is the suffering his feelings cause him.
