Review of Broadway Danny Rose (1984) by John T — 07 Dec 2014
Typical neurotic-Jewish faux intellectual humor from Woody Allen. Shot in black and white, he plays a hapless talent agent whose career is told in flashback by a group of comedians over lunch in a delicatessen.
Also starring Mia Farrow as the mistress of an Italian singer who gets Allen in trouble with the mob. A bunch of Borscht Belt one liners, many of which fall flat. Great exterior shots of New York City locations, including the famed Carnegie Deli (the owner Leo Steiner makes a cameo appearance).
People who don't like Woody Allen movies won't like this.
