Review of Broadcast News (1987) by Josh G — 02 Jun 2012
Though I think Albert Brooks is a talented actor, his character is the supreme reason why I don't enjoy Broadcast News. I understand that we're supposed to connect with him as a guy who is real and substantial but is constantly getting overlooked for the handsome William Hurt, but he acts so pathetically self-righteous that I can't connect with him.
This guy thinks he's the best choice for an anchor position that he makes teases William Hurt for tentatively using alliteration on air, but when he himself gets in front of the camera, breaks out into a flopsweat.
