Review of Bringing Up Baby (1938) by James H — 27 Aug 2009
Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, and a baby leopard are the main ingredients in this "screwball" comedy. Grant and Hepburn's chemistry carry the film which probably wouldn't be worth seeing without them.
We've seen these gags and unlikely scenerios many times in comedies. It must be remembered that this film was one of the early screwball comedies, so much of what we are seeing is fresh to the time and was later copied time and time again until it became cliched.
Regardless of that the movie is still great for Grant and Hepburn alone. A very enjoyable watch.
