Review of Bringing Up Baby (1938) by Sherry L — 02 Oct 2011
If I have to expend so much energy just to survive a comedy, of all things, there's something very wrong going on. The constant insanity from all the characters was mentally exhausting. I kept imagining how furious I would be in Grant's shoes as Hepburn ruined his life, and it was stressing me out a little bit.
It had its moments, but the incessant madness of it all was too much. The director even mentioned afterwards that he made a mistake with this film of making all the characters crazy. There's no sane, normal person for the audience to relate to.
