Review of Bringing Out the Dead (1999) by Alex P — 20 Oct 2007
One of the few Martin Scorcese films which didn't recieve overwhelming critical acclaim when released, but still a damn good film. Reuniting with Paul Schrader for the first time since Raging Bull, Scorcese turns in a film with a much different kind of power than the others the's made.
This is a film not about the mean and brutal people of New York, but about the good hearted and the emotional whalloping they take as they navigate the surreal world of emergency response in New York city.
Nicholas Cage has never been a favorite actor of mine, but he turns in what is one of his best performances by far here.
