Stylistically akin to After Hours but nowhere near as good. As always the camera work is stellar as you come to expect from Scorsese but the movie is simply too bleak, even for a Scorsese film. Nothing seems to be able to liven up the protagonist, even the prospect of a woman in his life only seems to bring him down further,.
