(1974) Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia.
DRAMA/ CRIME.
The story is exactly what the titles says and is often mentioned as the character study Peckinpah can relate to the most, except that the overall film is a little too 'self indulgent'. Take the storyline for instance, a big cartel finds out that one of his so- called daughters or mistresses (I fergot which one) gets knocked up and gets totally upset about it so he sets a high price bounty to the person that did it who is the title of this film. Along comes Bennie played brilliantly by Warren Oates, kind of a low class bum who isn't intentioned to hear this type of transaction but takes liberty to go after this bounty himself since it's alot of money and has dreams about what he could do with it. What doesn't cross his mind is that other people could be after this bounty as well, which could include professional hitmans and murders, and the most desperate pieces of scum that are dangerous! He drives around with his girlfriend to whom he plans to use this money on like no other existing problem is going to unfold if he pursues this! While I was watching this film and some bad things happen to Bennie once pursuing for this bounty, I was like what the heck do you expect! That it was supposed to be a sinch- that it was going to be easy especially on a poverty stricken area! Overall, and after my second viwing, it just ended up to be somewhat predictable! I will however warrant this film a pass because of two reasons which are probably the realism of it's griny locations and atmosphere and some of it's slow motion action sequences which is Peckinpah's trademark!
3 out of 4.
