Review of Brigsby Bear (2017) by Ian H — 03 Feb 2018
Some dude, James, have been captured for 25 years. He know his captives as mom and dad and thinks he's having a great life. However, the most important thing in his life is the TV-series "Brigsby Bear". It comes out regularly and James digs it. Little does he know that he's the only viwer of the show, as his captives makes the series - as a way of educating him. When he is rescued he slowly gets to understand that the most important thing in his life isn't real. Well, it is, but no one else know anything about it. Tough luck, right? So, while everyone thinks he a giant nutcase he is consistent of making the rest of the show - giving it the final it deserves. After a while he get people on his team. He has enemies, but also friends and they help him out. Naturally, things are complicated, being in a huge kid napping case and having meetings and tests frequently.
This is quite a plot. Very unique and fresh. It got a cool cast, OK acting and some very nice moments. It's silly, mostly it works out very well. It's like "Frank" mixed with something even quirkier with a layer of movie obsession - a treat for fans of original films. Odd and warm, but not the most rememberable film you'll see.
6.5 out of 10 bear heads.
