Review of Brighton Rock (2010) by Sam B — 05 Feb 2011
Not in the same league as the original, but this adaptation of Graham Greene's novel (transferred to the 60's) gets into its stride at the half way mark. Pinky befriends a naive waitress who has evidence of a murder he commited in this tale of catholic guilt and innocence lost.
Sam Riley never really convinces but Mirren and Hurt are superb, and Riseborough give a star making performance.
