Review of Bright (2017) by Mayank A — 08 Jan 2018
Bright blends the dark fantasy genre with present-day cop brutality and social divide, not a movie for everyone. The movie tries to combines too many topics and does pull it off, only it becomes too weighted down with all the themes it captures.
To lighten the heavy mood, humor is thrown in the way of buddy cop banters, only they are few and far between, I for one would have like more of it. Will Smith and Joel Edgerton got a great chemistry going, difficult to say who outshines whom.
The action sequences are good, we got a kick-ass bad girl in Noomi Rapace, she and her gang could rip an army apart without a sweat. The world building makes for a sensible franchise to spin off, I am actually looking forward to future stories from this world.
