Review of Bright (2017) by Diana G — 08 Jan 2018
While holding a premise full of promise, Bright just doesn't live up to the potential of the story. It feels a little repetitive for most of the action sequences, there's not enough fantasy and it could be funnier.
I ended up liking Jakoby a lot more than Ward, who just has too much of a jackass vibe throughout the whole movie. The ending was half predictable half underwhelming, and doensn't do much for the stoty besides setting up a sequel and redeeming Jakoby in his own eyes and the clan's.
Overall I enjoyed it, but it just underwhelmed me. Guess I had too high expectations, but I did hope for something better given Will Smith's, Noomi Rapace's and Joel Edgerton's talent.
