This movie has a huge clash of tone and really doesn't know what it wants to be.
The first 30 minutes start off like an awesome cross genre of cop genre and fantasy. It has a very grounded world with subtle fantasy elements. However after the first 30 minutes, the second and third act seem like a completely different movie. The subtle fantasy goes towards a very heightened fantasy, the comedy goes from grounded buddy cop comedy to R rated campy, and the acting goes from solid to sup par.
If the movie continued the tone of the first 30 minutes and was essentially an End of Watch type movie with some fantasy elements in a grounded world, the movie would have been much better.
That being said it does score some points for originality and good cross genre I have never seen before. The movie is watchable, just an Okay movie. Hope we get more like this with some coarse correction and more consistent tone.
