Review of Bright (2017) by Jonathan B — 22 Dec 2017
Wanted to give this a 4 out of 5 but gave it an extra star because of the false critic reviews.
The exposition definitely has some clunky parts, but the movie was definitely entertaining. Will Smith was amazing as usual, and the movie leaves room for more stories. The story itself was somewhat lacking, it seemed like a magical form of training day. They also tried way too hard to make the orcs black people, and the orc gang should have been set up more like the Italian mafia.
However this was well worth the watch and better than 90% of the films you find on netflix. The worst part of the movie was the perfectly missed opportunity to cast Eva Mendez as Will Smith's wife.
Don't know what the critics were smoking to give this a 32% and star wars a bloody 92%...but I guess that's to be expected from critics who gave Mother! a 68%. Never going to even look at the critic score after this embarrassing fail.
