Bright is 'Lord of The Rings' brought to life.

In present day Los Angeles. If you don't 'get' that, then this appears to you to be the worst movie of the year. If you do 'get' that, than you will love this movie, and be anxious for the sequel. You won't have the backstory explained, in fact there are huge gaps in it when the movie ends. I suppose that asking a critic to have an imagination is like asking an orc to play wide receiver, however the hints of a past where magic and heroes dwelled among us was one of the best parts about Tolkien's writing.

Bright delivers that vision into a gritty, dangerous, urban present day with wit and nonstop action.

For fans of this genre, don't believe the critics, believe the audience.
