Review of Brief Interviews with Hideous Men (2009) by Andrew P — 16 Feb 2010
In some scenes writer/director John Krasinski makes some nice artistic choices, especially the ones with Josh Charles and Christopher Meloni, but too often he tries to match the literary genius of David Foster Wallace pound for pound, which doesn't translate too well on screen.
There is a push to fill the movie with grand flourishes of dialogue that feel like they're there only to be grand flourishes of dialogue. By the time the movie was over I couldn't help but wonder what was the point?
