Review of Brief Interviews with Hideous Men (2009) by Colin S — 08 Apr 2010
Over-written, under-directed feature debut from John Krasinski (who did both), which basically features lots of good actors spouting unlikely, theatrically phony monologues about their love lives. Subtlety is avoided; if the film ever gets an idea, it makes sure that someone states it in dialogue.
It's all very slight and wearying, and never finds the best way to deploy it's gimmick. I mean, premise. No, wait. Yeah, gimmick.
