Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Tom H — 07 Mar 2009
A powerful film about love and adultery. it was clearly ahead of it`s time earning David Lean his first Oscar nomination as director. it was a neat idea having the adultress in her mind tell the story of her affair to her husband, as she could have never gotten the nerve to do it in real life.
Celia Johnson carries the film with her heartfelt performance of a woman in love, but also a deeply unhappy one.
