Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Valerie M — 13 Jun 2009
If I were an emotional person I would have cried at the end. I loved it. Celia Johnson did a very good job, but Trevor Howard was magnificent. There were some beautiful parts of the film in which you could see all of his character's conflicting emotions flashing across his face.
It was wonderful to watch. I liked him in the Third Man, and now I think I love him. David Lean's direction was also very well done, with an excellent bit of expressive camerawork and sound towards the end.
Excellent film for the romantics out there. I'll probably try to get my sister and my mom to watch it--it's probably right up their alley.
