Bridge of Spies (2015) C-142m. ??? D: Steven Spielberg. Tom Hanks, Mark Rylance, Alan Alda, Domenick Lombardozzi, Victor Verhaeghe, Mark Fichera, Brian Hutchison. Thoroughly enjoyable thriller with serious theme: an American lawyer (Oscar-winner Rylance) is recruited during the Civil War to defend an arrested Soviet spy in court.
Later the CIA uses the Soviet spy as an exchange for a captured American spy in Russia. The cast is effective, the direction is solid, and the plot is interesting, but the finale seems more restrained than it should be.
An entertaining movie overall. Written by Matt Charman, and Joel and Ethan Coen.
