Review of Bridge of Spies (2015) by Billie S — 20 Jun 2016
American-German historical thriller, based on a true story from 1960 during the Cold War when was built the Berlin Wall and Germany was split into East and West. A Russian spy was arrested in New York and the Americans will offer him a fair trial and will hire the James B.
Donovan, a distinguished lawyer. He represented the prosecution at the Nuremberg trials and his understanding of good and bad comes from World War II. He is a man of high moral values who believes in the United States as it is described in the Constitution.
At the same time an American pilot is shot down and captured in the territory of the USSR. Donovan will be found in the middle of the Cold War after the CIA will send him on the almost impossible task to negotiate with the Russians for a replacement of captured American pilot for the Russian spy.
In the movie neither side, politics and state is most favored. It is a very good movie but without suspense and tension.
