Review of Bridge of Spies (2015) by Peteralexander — 11 Nov 2015
Filled to the brim with intensity and emotion, Bridge of Spies acts as Spielberg's best film since 2005. The film portrays the dark and harsh realities of the Cold War whilst never forgetting to embrace the underlying nature of human beings.
The performances of Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance are quirky, grim and at times oblivious to the seriousness of their situations, highlighting what it really meant to live during such times. Whilst the film had spectacular sequences, it never forgot its place in remaining as realistic and character driven as possible, something that has been missing in Spielberg's recent films.
