Review of Bride of Frankenstein (1935) by Tamara S — 24 Dec 2007
Simultaneously a great horror movie, a gloriously flamboyant parody of a horror movie, and a stunning display of the possibilities of the medium of film. The astounding photography and spectacular set design have to be seen to be believed, the actors have the time of their lives (particular kudos to Ernest Thesiger and Elsa Lanchester), and Franz Waxman's musical score is the greatest Hollywood soundtrack bar none.
The climax constitutes perhaps the most stunning sequence in American cinema--as good as anything in _Citizen Kane_.
