Review of Bride of Frankenstein (1935) by David R — 02 Nov 2007
This film is incredible. The first thing I noticed was the portrayals of Lord Byron and Percy and Mary Shelley, the former being outright comical! But then, the cinematography--and the story. I was moved by the beautiful, haunting, and timeless feel of this picture; I was fixated, and could not take my eyes from the screen.
Then, the humor and the sentiment started penetrating each scene, and I knew I was watching a masterpiece. How could they take Mrs. Shelley's original story a step further and create something else equally as timeless? I do not know, but I am sure glad they did.
