Review of Bride of Frankenstein (1935) by Jack W — 13 Dec 2009
Watching this film immediately after Frankenstein it is really cool to see the methodology of the horror genre taking shape. At the top of the film Karloff gets top billing and interestingly he is billed as Karloff, not Boris Karloff.
This is really his film. He takes the monster to a different level and definitely humanizes him. The other thing that really stands out is the pace of editing and the camera placement for the creation sequence of the Bride.
Just brilliant work which worked so well.
